The Wine Company will forever remain the small, local, family owned company you have come to trust since 1985 when Larry Colbeck first embarked on importing storied wines of provenance …and yet, because we aim to serve Minnesota as best we can, it is high time we grow our little family to meet all your needs and to make sure we carry on doing so in the personal fashion to which we are all accustomed. After all: we are here for wine and fellowship, aren’t we?

For this we are proud to announce our newest additions to the sales team at The Wine Company. Please welcome Steve Eiter as are new General Sales Manager along with Jane Greenheck and Sara Doherty as our newest sales reps!

GENERAL SALES MANAGER

My college internship at a country club has proven to be very influential on my life. It is where I was first introduced to great food, fine wine and my future wife. (I had hit the trifecta!) Ultimately graduating with a degree in Hospitality Management, I continued to pursue a career in the restaurant business.

After working my way up through several great casual dining establishments, I found myself managing a wine bar with an extensive list. By this time, I was married for 7 years and had two young daughters and one more on the way! As rewarding as the restaurant business can be; the long hours often make it difficult to raise a family. Seeking a “normal” schedule, I made the decision to pursue a career in wine and spirits distribution. Over the course of the next 15 years I helped to build a dedicated and successful sales team in the competitive Minnesota market.

When I’m not working, I enjoy: biking, hiking, camping, experimental cooking, “working out”, and travel with my family. I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time with the latest edition to the family — a Grandson. (finally a boy!) I’m excited to be working with such a talented and knowledgeable team at The Wine Company.

JANE GREENHECK

My love for wine began during my study abroad in Spain in the late eighties. With that being said, I have a passion for Spanish wines particularly the Priorat. I also love anything old world and start off any social event with bubbles. In my spare time I am dining out at local haunts with friends, traveling, practicing yoga, reading, or hiking -recently the trails of Glacier National Park.

I have worked in the wine industry since 2002 with my tenure beginning at Thomas Liquors in St Paul conveniently located near my home having lived in Macalester Groveland since 1985. Matchmaking wine with customers is what I love most about this job as it is very rewarding to find the “right” wine. My travels include Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Chile, Argentina -mostly wine related. Beyond the wine world my first love is family and my husband Pete and I have four kids Elizabeth, Dan, Caroline and John and a Westie named Piper. How do handle all the miles on the road? I love all kinds of music especially the R&B.

SARA DOHERTY

Born in Victoria I have been a proud Minnesotan and huge hometown Prince fan since day one but that has not kept me from travelling to Japan, China, Italy, Argentina, Uruguay, the Netherlands, Belize, Canada and soon to Spain and France! France is especially exciting because bubbles and french fries are probably the best food and wine combination ever paired. This might also be one of the reasons I love to run! Running proves the perfect balance to my love of cooking and entertaining family -not least my husband and two little boys, Graham and Leo. As to pets, we keep chickens and what started as 6 has grown to 18 so who knows what will come of our little homestead!
