The Wine Company

Southern Spain

When people think of Southern Spain, the first thing that comes to mind is the production of Sherry in the region of Jerez. But truthfully, the region is far more than just that. Andalucia is truly the birthplace of Spanish wine, where the first vines brought from the Middle East were planted around 1000 BC.

Outside of Jerez, the regions of Montilla-Moriles and Malaga are historic stalwarts of Southern Spain. The wines of these regions are often overlooked but deserve far more attention: they are distinctive and wonderful expressions of place (typical of what we love to represent at The Wine Company).
