Alexander Valley Vineyards Syrah 2007
The nose is a bit restrained, not unusual for the varietal at this stage. There is some Viognier added to the Syrah which fruits-up the black pepper aromas and makes it very pretty in the glass. See co-pigmentation for info. Initially the American oak dominates the nose but quickly comes in balance with air. A very juicy wine that slip-slides between blueberries, not the whole fresh ones but rather those you pick out of the muffins, and fruit compote. Very nice finish.
