Coteaux de Vendemois Rose Cocagne 2015

Coteaux de Vendemois Lieu dit Cocagne Rosé Loire
Northwest of Tours above Vouvray, Coteaux de Vendomois is the named vineyard (lieu dit) which gives the central Loire this bracing mineral rosé that is both fair and fresh. Made from 100% Pineau d’Aunis (also known as Chenin Noir), this was the favorite of Henry Plantagenet once upon a time and today remains a lovely variety unique to the Loire, charming for a minerality that persists through all its high toned fruit. If you love white Sauvignon Blanc this is an idyllic rosé for you as it is awash in bright ruby grapefruit without any of that bitter pith. Pure and refreshing and still vinous and bright, this perennial favorite might be the best we have tasted yet.
