Lageder Muller-Thurgau 2011

This wine is labeled IGT Dolomiti, which covers a rather large swath of land across the Alps near Bolzano, Italy. The reason for this is the relative lack of Muller Thurgau, and Alois Lageder has to source from multiple parcels to get enough grapes for this (rather rare) wine. In fact, some of the vineyards to source this wine are found at over 3000 foot elevation! That makes for some cool evenings, helping to bring out the racy acidity. Typical of an 'aromatic varietal' the fruit shoots out of the glass, with all sorts of lime zest, quince, green apple, and puckery snappiness. Bright and lively on the palate but not with enamel-tearing acidity, it harmonizes nicely on the finish. Yum! Have with Asian seafood dishes for an ideal pairing. 12.5% alcohol.
