Lageder Haberle Pinot Bianco 6/750 2010

An Olympian above Pinot Bianco as I know them, this is a taste of Biodynamically grown single vineyard fruit from 20-45 year old vines whose feet have always known Haberlehof in Buchholz where they have enjoyed 360 some days of sun every year and gently ripen at some 1,700 feet preserving fresh orchard fruit acidity and fragrance and finish of orangecicle in a refreshing way beyond memory and the chummy power of gold filtered nostalgia. For all its immediate appeal, Pinot Bianco can do more than refresh –who thought it could move a man? Alois Lageder proves yet again that living wine is altogether different.
Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, August 2013

Pinot Bianco is a tough grape to pin down. It's kinda Pinot Grigio like in its freshness and verve, but kinda Chardonnay like in its mouthfeel and finish. Then again, it really isn't like anything else, which also means it can often show in a rather unexciting style (especially if yields are high in the vineyards). All doubts about this grape are put to rest when you taste the single vineyard Haberle from Alois Lageder's biodynamically farmed vineyard. The aromas are pronounced and textured, with loads of ripe apple and peachy goodness framed by a minerally acidity. The mouthfeel is medium balanced, and it maintains its energy throughout the taste (often Pinot Bianco will 'drop out' in the middle). This is a FINE example of the potential of this grape, and ideal for roasted poultry and freshwater fish dishes.
