Lageder Chardonnay 2013

Alois Lageder’s sustainably grown Chardonnay showcases what Biodynamic viticulture can do; mineral, citric, orchard fruit greet the nose and pour over the palate with much of the same but lifting at the finish with a fragrant white peach and a tension of nervy acids and a fleshy texture. The combination of a warm micro climate at high elevations ensures even and thorough but gradual ripening unique to Italy’s alpen heights. Couple those with limestone soils and you have a recipe for outstanding Chardonnay that are nimble but not at all lean, full but not remotely flabby, and penetrating, invigorating, and for its structure an appetizing white for an aperitif, shellfish, pesto, or chicken.
