Argyle Blanc de Blancs 6/750 2010

Of a mere 920 cases made, this is a delightful bottle of fermented Chardonnay from Julia Lee's Block of the Knudsen Vineyard in the Dundee Hills of Oregon's Willamette Valley. Planted to high elevations in 1990, this is fascinating because it is entirely Dijon clone which contribute richness and complexity. Rollin Soles who helped spearhead the plantings at Knutsen says it best: “We didn’t need any further proof that this was the right thing to do. We knew that whatever worked in Burgundy would be a success here, especially since Professor Bernard was so confident in the outcome. The new clones gave us the opportunity to rethink not only our Chardonnay vineyards, but our Pinot program as well.” Today Argyle is the largest farmer of Dijon clone Chardonnay with 58 acres under vine.
