Argyle Brut Rose 6/750 2014

Argyle 2011 Brut Rose, Willamette Valley | 12.5% | This is unreal –by that I mean superlative sparkling value. Vintage dated sparkling rosé. Disgorged on demand. Blended from 70% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier, and 5% Chardonnay all fermented en tirage in the very bottle from which I pour this glass…this is stunning stuff. Floral how rosés express so well, bright and firm red fruit wash the palate, with a tactile body that is at once invigorating and also textural and fulsome perhaps because this wine is grown rather than manufactured. Sure it needs the alchemy of turning a still vin clair to and effervescent beauty but this is wine first and foremost.

All of the Pinot Meunier that lend their flesh, flex and fruit to this wondrous wine began as flowers in the paradise that is Knudsen Vineyard at 950 feet elevation and after drinking the rarefied rosé of Moussé & Fils who know Pinot Meunier better than just about anyone I’ve tasted with perhaps it is this grape’s talents behind this marvelous and creamy textured sparkling wine. Argyle does it again!
