Inama Soave Classico 2012

Inama 2012 Soave | 12% | 100% Garganega from these gifted slopes of Soave just south of Valpolicella, Inama’s 2012 is stunning with fragrant suggestions of sliced melons firm and fresh, raw almonds, a chalky charm to its chirping texture and a mineral lift throughout. I always enjoy this and this may be the best yet for its balance and body, fragrance and finish. No Soave can touch this at this tier. It throws Soave into that luscious category rather than the lean and watery Soave once the norm on the red and white gingham tables of the Italian American pizza pie houses. No –this is an elegant but far richer experience worthy of the fine wines of the world.
Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, November 2013

Classico is very important to a Soave label; these are the hills erupting at the Northern edge of the flat plain of the Po Valley from whence most Soave comes. Exposition and elevation are very critical aspects to good grape growing and a narrower definition of available grapes, only Gargenga is allowed. This is a more complete complex wine, more viscous. The nose is candle wax including that wisp of smoke when you blow out the candle. The flavours are canned pears, nutmeg, and a squeeze of lemon.
