Barraud Macon Chaintre 2017

Chardonnay from this part of the Saone is proof that absolutely delicious Burgundy can be found outside of the Cote d'Or, Chablis, and the Cote Chalonnaise. Combining the warmer recent years with its southerly position, the Maconnais have proven they can achieve ripe heft while preserving a balancing minerality thanks to the limestone that defines Burgundy. Entry level Macon whites are eager to show their snappy pluck with a palate of orchard fruit. When these vignerons happen upon a ripe vintage or a warmer microclimate, Chardonnay from these hills are broader and richer, can even take some time in new oak but some are kept bright and buoyant, fresh for the picking.
