Baumard Cremant Brut Carte Turquoise

Perhaps the best disgorgement yet which speaks volumes when this is a perennial favorite. This Cremant de Loire is a blend of Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc planted 35 years ago to the schist, sand and sandstone of the Loire riverbank and farmed sustainably by Baumard -wine grower of high acclaim and a delicate touch permitting the terroir to speak through their wines. This uplifting and invigorating cremant expresses itself in tangerine and soft citrus, white cherries, quince paste, and an ever present mineral charm to its structure -no doubt thanks to the chirping acidity of Chenin Blanc which comprises some 60% of the overall blend. Thanks to its fruit profile and gentle phenolics, this is an immediately affable sparkling wine for those who like a plush bubbly but also those whose preferences lie at the Brut end of the spectrum -as this weighs in at only 5g/l residual sugar -when the dry Brut category can go as high as 15 g/l. It is marvelous no matter how you cut it and a favorite among most of those to whom I serve this charming little number.

"A rich, complex blend of Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc made by one of the top producers in Anjou. The ripe fruits have kept their freshness, leaving a generous but crisp wine, with a delicate, elegant mousse."
