Blanchet Pouilly-Fume Calcite 2010

Super aroma that rushes out of the glass, packed with lime zest and minerals and talc that hits all corners of the palate and continues to push and push. Rather aggressive, but in the right way ... a wine that is persistent. Finish is where the smokiness comes through, with very interesting complexity that begs for smoked salmon or oysters on the grill. Fabulous!

Blanchet 2009 Calcite Pouilly Fumé
Named for the calcareous slopes that lend a verve as only limestone soils can, the Calcite is an arrestingly stunning wine with plenty of mineral snap –even in comparison to the wines from the famously toe tapping Sancerre across the River Loire. Here’s Sauvignon blanc speaking in the eloquent aromas of lime liqueur, nettles, clean scented hops with alert flavors of lemons and limes bit off the rind. Great mineral lines highlight its soaring angularity –like a high cheekboned debutante whose solitary kiss could haunt a man the rest of his life. 13% alcohol by volume.
