Blanchet Pouilly-Fume Silice 2011
Good lord! This is smoking Pouilly-Fumé on the nose. Silice soils [those sandy clay soils that are rich in slate] verily speak through this Pouilly Fumé … stony, flinty and limey, it has an absolutely lovely nose. Much like the Yang to the Ying of Blanchet’s plumper Calcite, the Cuvée Silice is an angsty darling on the palate: in some ways like a little stark and edgy with the mineral driven texture and gun-flint finish. White fish, shellfish, oysters, chicken. Asparagus, cilantro, artichokes, salads. Lemony or garlicy things.
