Muga Reserva Seleccion Especial 2005

Oh myyyyyyy. Incredible Rioja is one of the best reasons to be wine lover, and this wine only goes to prove this point. Such amazing complexity comes from the best Tempranillo based Rioja, especially when it's from a top producer like Muga. Silky smooth black raspberry and bing cherry are intermixed with tea leaves, compost, and warm worn saddle leather. Don't laugh ... I'm serious. Take a horse out for a good ride, eat some raspberries, and there you have it.

This wine is a Reserva, and simply one of the best Riojas you can find, period. Grippy and rich, with a solid medium to full bodied structure and enough energy to go the long haul for aging. Drink before 2040, preferably with a saute of chorizo and wild mushrooms on baked toasts.
