Muga Rioja Reserva- Unfiltered 2014

Good grief this is fine Rioja of seasoned hardwood incense and campfire, rich ripe brambly fruit, full black plums, vanilla bean, a leathern savory note and the anticipation of a cedar sauna. 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 7% Mazuelo and 3% Graciano grown in the chalky terraces behind the best Riojan offerings, all marry into a rich and rounded whole thanks to barrel fermentation, 24 months in oak casks, and another year in bottle. As they say at Muga, “This is a wine packed with character and with an evolution which recalls the magnificent 2005 vintage.” In my humble opinion despite my love of the '05 this is even better.
