Tineta Ribera del Duero 2013

Tineta 2012 Ribera del Duero, Spain | 14% | 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) | A fragrant Tinto Fino effusively expressive of sweet cedar scents, a potpourri of dried rose petals, red cherries, black plums and blackberries. Fine tannins ground these more lifted elements and work them into a fulsome palate with delicious fruit, a more nimble structure than one might suspect from the nose in a way where all come together and make for an appetizing Ribera del Duero. The acidity is of a nice tension between sweet and sour where ripe fruit meets a mouthwatering tug at the corners of the mouth in a way that’s really delicious through a long persistent finish.
Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, January 26, 2016 (Fruit)

“Over the millennia the Duero River has carved its path to the sea through the high central plateau of Spain leaving behind a rugged valley of alluvial soils. The source of the grapes for Tineta is the El Carril vineyard, with its combination of gravel, sand and clay chalk is one of the most emblematic plots in Ribera Del Duero. This poor soil combined with the harsh continental climate and the high elevation of 2700 ft. produces a grape with extraordinary depth of dark fruit flavors, such as plums and blackberries with a hint of smoke on the finish. A wine perfect for a great steak or a perfectly grilled lamb chop.”
