Botani Malaga 2012

Botani 2012 Dry Muscat, Sierras de Málaga DO | 14% | In the subtropical south of Spain, Málaga’s steep red slate slopes descend toward the Mediterranean as if to bow before the ripening sun. Extremely old Moscatel vines define this pocket of Andalusia with its beautiful floral fragrance and the scent of fresh apricots and those sweet petite champagne grapes. What sets this apart is that it is vinified dry so despite the suggestive scents of ripe sweetness, this Muscat remains snappy, mineral, fresh and crisp with flavors and a finish to match its nose but a refreshing quench about the whole white wine. Made in collaboration between Jorge Ordoñez and the equally renowned Kracher family of Austrian fame, this is a meeting of giants to craft the most delicately crisp dry white of Muscat to be found. Like spicy fare? Southeast Asian cuisine? Central American street food? Hello Botani!
Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, January 27, 2014 (Leaf –but certainly the fruitiest dry white I’ve ever sipped on a Leaf Day)
