Bouchard Beaune Teurons 2012

Bouchard Père & Fils 2011 Beaune Teurons Premier Cru, Côte de Beaune | 12.5% | An outstanding domaine wine that is estate grown, made at the Château de Beaune at the heart of the Côte-d’Or and crafted to reveal all the active angst of this terroir of tension –a warm start rising to a fever pitch of trilling thrills before setting in to that more baritone charm of a brooding and pensive youth even if far too early in life to understand the troubles of the world. Like a perceptive young adult at that unique and tender age where one begins to see the conflicting chaos of nature and the pining and beautiful complexity of the paradoxes that surround us. Rich red cherries, a lifted scent of peppery greens, wisps of bitter clove and cinnamon, a warm cedar humidor and the beguiling scuff of pine wood duff all twirl in this Teurons –a living example of all things wonderful about this gifted terroir.
Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, February 25, 2014 (Fruit)

“Situated near the town of Beaune, between "Les Grèves" and the "Clos de la Mousse", "Les Teurons" is a vineyard famous for its class and harmony. Its situation, on a hillock, would explain its name which means "the mount" in Celtic. Bouchard Père & Fils acquired the first parcel here in 1791, completed in 1869 to obtain a surface area of 2.41 hectares. Red fruit aromas with an oaky note. Soft and generous on the palate, in a lovely harmonious ensemble. Good ageing potential.”
