Wine

Bouchard Corton Charlemagne 2012

The southern portion of Burgundy, the Cotes du Beaune is home to the other great Chardonnay wines in the world; Chablis is the other. The wine is generally aged in oak barrels and the fruit is usually riper giving fuller, rounder wines. Sites within the commune vary dramatically in quality and prices. The wines at Premier Cru level and above should be nutty, buttery and toasty, but with racy acidity and often hints of unusual mineral and stony flavours. These are white wines that can reward cellaring for between 5 and 15 years.

Expert Review

(17.5) - Jancis Robinson
"Very cold sample so perhaps less expressive than it might be. Still has intense citrus core clothed in mealy creaminess. Terrific freshness and an arrow of fresh citrus through a gently creamy texture. Very good. Long and with an attractive delicate grip on the finish. Does not have huge concentration in the middle but is finely balanced." (JH)
