Bouchard Meursault Perrieres 2005

The southern portion of Burgundy, the Cotes du Beaune is home to the other great Chardonnay wines in the world; Chablis is the other. The wine is generally aged in oak barrels and the fruit is usually riper giving fuller, rounder wines. Sites within the commune vary dramatically in quality and prices. The wines at Premier Cru level and above should be nutty, buttery and toasty, but with racy acidity and often hints of unusual mineral and stony flavours. These are white wines that can reward cellaring for between 5 and 15 years.

Expert Review

92 Points - "Very pale, bright color. Aromas of wet stone, minerals and spices. Suave and weightless in the mouth, with grand cru volume and breadth. But this plush wine is hiding more than it's showing today, with a strong wet stone flavor currently dominating its fruit. Finishes with a palate-dusting texture and excellent thrust."

93 Points - "This offers a small step up in aromatic purity and refinement with a beautifully elegant and airy mix of orchard fruit, nuts and acacia blossom that introduces rich, full and sweet flavors that retain a fine sense of detail on the strikingly intense, mineral suffused finish. Drink 2012+."
