Caparzo Brunello 2011

Delicious spiced and candied cherries with the scents of woodlands and aromatic hardwoods are just the taste of Tuscany I’d like with truffles, game, pan seared duck and the like. Dry, fine grained tannins, a savory edge and juicy Morello cherries come together to call for a quality cut of steak. This is a foodies wine in that it is layered and complex and yet nothing will upstage the wonders on your plate. 13%

"...wraps around the palate with layers of rich, seductive fruit. There is plenty of expressiveness in the glass, even if the wine loses some of its persistence on the mid-palate and finish. This is a tasty, approachable Brunello that should drink well right out of the gate.
