Cauhape Jurancon Sec Chants des Vignes 2012

Since 2010 Chant des Vignes shifted to its new style blending in Camaralet to the Gros Manseng brings a certain refinement that is pure pleasure to taste. The nose expresses a magnificently fine and intense bouquet, with citrus notes, exotic fruits and surprising scents of white pepper, cinnamon and fennel. In mouth, the aromas increase to a crescendo opening with white fleshed fruits accompanied by beautiful palate weight, freshness and generosity.

At the helm of the great Cauhape Estate, local hero Henri Ramonteu is the largest producer in Jurançon and famous for redefining Jurançon as dry and invigorating. Having revived the ancient local Camarelet grape variety, he blends it with the traditional Gros Menseng to craft this snappy Chant des Vignes Jurançon Sec lending a pronounced aroma –a fragrance at once full of fruit and exotic spice. Fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks for 5 months on gross lees this is perfect as an apéritif or to accompany the fine texture and flavor of shellfish or crayfish.

Food Pairings

A marvelous pairing with grapefruit prawns, fresh fish with citrus or grilled fish, this is great wine to have chilled on hand because it is so versatile at the table.
