Hebrart Brut Rose

"In a world where the really great Rosé Champagnes are both very rare and very expensive, I am happy to present you with Jean-Paul Hebrart’s Rosé NV which he makes in enough quantity that we can stock it year round, AND it is less than $40/bottle to you! It is also delivers a great balance of fruit and structure as Jean-Paul combines equal parts Côte des Blancs Chardonnay from Oiry and Chouilly and Pinot Noir from Mareuil sur Ay to walk the razor’s edge of crispness and power."
Wine review by Wil Bailey

Half Chardonnay and half Pinot Noir with 8% of which is red Pinot Noir for color | Spends 25 months on its lees for texture and fragrance. Lovely cerise cover and smother the face in bright, constant kisses of cherries along a persistent bead and lovely mousse. Absolutely lovely color, this is elegant and graceful but with more flesh on its bones than say a Keira Knightly but not far off the mark, more so the lovely Kate Mara –although with the Champagne being rose and she a darling red head, this might be color biased. All the same, the palate on this wine is bright as the day is long and awash in cherries and wild plums with a lovely texture, an equipoise balance without a single heavy low note but rather the lofty ethereal power of delicate rose Champagne as it ought to be.

Expert Review

92 Rating International Wine Cellar
"(disgorged June 5, 2009) Vary pale pink with pinpoint bubbles. Bright, mineral-inflected aromas of strawberry, raspberry and white flowers. Elegant, precise red fruit flavors pick up richness and power with air, taking a turn to cherry while retaining vivacity. A zesty and refreshingly bitter note of blood orange defines the long, sappy, stony finish. The blend of richness and energy here is impressive." Wine review by Stephen Tanzer, December 2009

91 Rating - Wine Advocate
"The NV Brut Rose Premier Cru is a pretty, delicate wine laced with lovely inner perfume and layers of mineral-infused Mareuil character. A refined, totally impeccable finish rounds out this harmonious rose. The Rose Premier Cru 46% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir and 9% still Pinot from Mareuil-sur-Ay, 70% 2007 and 30% 2006, bottled with 7 grams of dosage. This is Lot L458, disgorged: May 4, 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015. I was very impressed by what I tasted from Hebrart this year. From top to bottom this is a fabulous set of wines." Wine review by Wine Advocate, January 2011

90 Rating - Allen Meadow's Burghound
"(disgorged July, 2008 - 50%/50% pinot noir and grand cru chardonnay with 90% ’05 fruit). The fresh and airy nose speaks of red berry fruit with discreet notes of strawberry and raspberry, both of which can also be found on the delicious, intense, focused and acceptably complex flavors that also are supported by a firm effervescence and fine length. This has arrived at a stage where it could be drunk now with pleasure but I would be inclined to cellar it for another 2 to 3 years in the hopes of coaxing a bit more complexity out of the finish. Still, this is understated and lovely." Wine review by Burghound, October 2009
