2012 was challenging vintage with frost hitting in April, followed by hailstorms and one of the hottest summers on record, reducing crops in some villages by as much as 40%. Ultimately, the frost and hail that reduced the crop earlier in the year meant the harvested grapes showed healthy concentration with good levels of acidity balanced by ripe sugar content.

TASTING NOTES
Disg. 04/2016, the blend is 60% Cramant (from 7 parcels including the most ancient vines, well over 100 years), 30% Chouilly and 10% Cuis. It’s a masterpiece in the making but it’s also a rebel-yell of Club, big-footed and with unusual amplitude. I wonder whether it will slim down like the ’09 —Terry Theise
