Chateau d'Angles Blanc Classique La Clape 2017
"La Clape is the only appellation based on the Bourboulenc grape. It brings freshness and structure and is behind the reputation of La Clape for white wines. It makes up half of this blend together with Grenache for its fruit and a dash of Roussanne and Marsanne for additional complexity."
Hard limestone screes of the mountain of La Clape. Warm and dry climate tempered by the Mediterranean. Slow ripening thanks to cooler coastal nights.
Sustainable practices according to High Environmental Value charter (level 3) in respect for the environment and complexity of the wine: composted pomace, mulched prunings, plowing, no insecticides, no weedkillers.
Bourboulenc (50%), Grenache (30%), Roussanne (10%), Marsanne (10%). Cordon de Royat trellising, hard-pruned for strictly controlled yields of about 35 hl/ha.
Two-months-long picking according to maturity of each variety and plots. Grapes are hand-selected.
Total de-stemming, slow pressing, juice is gravity-fed into vats, each variety is vinified separately. Cleaned from raw lees twice, traditional temperature-controlled fermentation.
Stirring on the fine lees in concrete vats during 4 to 5 months. Natural stabilisation and static clarification by gravity, no fining nor filtrating.
Pale yellow colour with golden glints. Elegant bouquet of spring flowers and fresh spices such as anise or fennel. Smooth mouth revealing a rich and long complexity of white fruits balanced by a mineral freshness.
Enjoy fresh and fruity in the first 5 years. Ageing potential of 8 to 10 years.
Try the Classique White as an apéritif with salmon cream toasts or simply dry nuts! Excellent with grilled fish and also white meat. Perfect with goat and sheep fresh cheese.
