Cline Pinot Noir 2018

Completely estate fruit from the sustainable winegrowers at Cline, this is the best their Pinot Noir has ever been and I am thrilled it is now entirely made from Pinot Noir grown in the Sonoma Coast just west of Russian River Valley. Thanks to the chilly oceanic mass of the Pacific, the cooler climate of the Sonoma Coast has a knack for slow ripening and developing complexity –in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in particular and is earning high acclaim as one of California’s great terroir for these noble varieties. Smoky blueberries, the spice of mustard greens, a meaty texture, and rich fruit combine with a spice, blackberry, and black cherry on the palate that join into a delicious Pinot Noir structurally poised for endless pairings at the table. As Cline keeps rising to new heights, I am keen to taste what’s next.
