Aia Vecchia Solidio, Rosato IGT Toscana | 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot 10% from vineyards in Magliano south of Florence in Tuscany. Here the Pellegrini family owns 74 acres planted to a number of grape varieties. Aia Vecchia is named for an old building situated in the Tuscan countryside between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci and next to the Tyrrhenian coast and they are most famous for their two highly acclaimed flagship wines: “Lagone” and “Sor Ugo.” Unlike these robust reds of Bolgheri, their rosé is kept fresh by ageing in stainless steel tanks for only four months and then two months in bottle. This is a light, brilliant, onion skin pink color. The nose is very fresh and intense with floral and fruit notes of cherry and peach. On the palate the wine is fresh with good acidity, the finish is fruity and persistent.
