Darnaud Crozes Hermitage Mise en Bouche 2009
Holy Moses, what a nose! My companion found it a bit “spearmint” for her liking but for me this was only a uplifting nuance to the immense black fruits, blueberry, chocolate and tobacco leaf. Richly textured the flavours cling to it all the way through. It is surprising considering the dimension of the wine that there is little of syrah’s “look at me” effrontery; instead it provides a deep palette for this stunning wine. Really long. 13% alcohol. Note by LAC. January 3, 2012.
Food Pairings
