Domaine Drouhin Oregon Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2011

Entirely estate fruit, this embodies the elegant style of Drouhin whose cool climate experience surely informs this benchmark Pinot Noir –in a poised grace unique to Drouhin. Farmed just as the Drouhin family tend their Grand Cru holdings in Burgundy (extreme planting density of 4,000 plants per acre as opposed to the local norm of 700-800, using a Blucher basket press for the gentle yet thorough extraction, dropping 70% of all fruit in green harvest taking in only a maximum of 2 tons per acre –all in, combining all the wines they make, they only make 11,000 cases –still an intimate production for a house of such renown) Riper and deeper fruit than historic Drouhin offerings but preserving the crunchy red fruit, aromatic cedar and sandalwood, and a beguiling floral spice.

Food Pairings

Pinot Noir is well-suited to pair with poultry, beef, fish, ham, lamb and pork. It will play well with creamy sauces, spicy seasonings and may just be one of the world's most versatile food wines.
