Protocolo Blanco 2013

We know and love the Protocolo Tempranillo as a herald of just what the Vino de la Tierra de Castilla appellation of La Mancha can do, but in the past this Viura sort of rode its red partner’s coattails. There was nothing out of place just that one typically found this simply pleasant, crisp and refreshing and so it is –but this year offers more of an appetizing citrus and apple profile, a faint saline, seashell mineral, and a juicy but ripened acidity that keeps it chipper and far more invigorating than other wines at this echelon –well worth trying!

88 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep/Oct 13
"(a 50/50 blend of macabeo and airen): Pale yellow. High-pitched aromas of lemon zest and white flowers, with a piquant mineral overtone. Dry, racy and focused, offering tangy lemon zest and green apple flavors and a touch of bitter herbs. Closes with good clarity and cut, leaving a tart citrus fruit note behind. This is pretty grown-up for the price, not to mention a superb value."
