Drouhin Chorey-les-Beaune Rouge 2009

Perhaps the best sip from the Saone plain I’ve ever set to my lips. Savory, chicory and saucisson pull one into a lovely palate combining bright juicy cherries, cherry pit tannins, and a floral finish –all the charms I hope to find from Pinot Noir at the commune Burgundy echelon but (sigh) seldom find. With this I am pleased to say that at least the Drouhins are mindful about commune Burgundy –and everything they touch for that matter. 2009 might have done its part too though so I really ought to hand some of the credit to the vintage -an exceptional year.

Food Pairings

Chorey needs a fine but simple cuisine: roasted poultry, grilled meats and soft cheese such as Reblochon or Brie.
