Drouhin Saint-Veran 2011

Glorious Saint Véran that is true to type. What’s that? Well, Saint Véran is Chardonnay planted to the southern Burgundian parcels that physically between Mâconnais and the northerly Beaujolais Cru of Saint Amour. Stylistically Saint Véran is fuller with more presence than the Mâcon-Village often softer and more plush than its neighboring Pouilly-Fuissé which for their familial resemblance typically more expensive [read: this is GREAT value]. In 2011 Drouhin’s Saint Véran is supple and soft with peachy stone fruit, fragrant minty herbs and a polished texture that marries the chalky marl of the region with the curlicue nuance of clean and fragrant French oak casks. A charming wine. A segue wine. A foodie’s wine. A delightful glass with most any meal. A delicious sip on its not so lonesome self –because it is an imaginative wine that inspires ones smiling imagination.
