Ecker Zweigelt 2012

Ecker 2012 Zweigelt Landwein aus Österreich trocken, Weinland | 12.5% | Ah yes! A delectable red that can stand a nice chill and comes in a liter format! The frugal Scot in me figures this means 33% more wine for the same cost as a standard 750ml bottle –or it’s like saving a quarter of what others spend but getting a delightful and fresh Austrian red unlike any other variety out there. This Zweigelt charms with that primary berry flavored profile, a telltale cracked pepper, floral fragrance high above the rest of it and a crisp structure despite its engaging ripe fruit. It remains a grill’s best friend and proves the mettle of Ecker’s knack for the variety –a perfect Summer red that can be enjoyed all day long.
