Fattori & Graney Recioto Soave 2006

Ah, Garganega as a rollicking sweetie! Herbal greengage, sliced apples, and those storing apples you kept in the root cellar and only now after months have ripened as only keepers do, this is a polished white with swelling fruit in the mouth that finishes delicately and leaves the palate pining for the next sip. 13.5% alcohol by volume 500ml
Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, December 2010

Has Garganega ever tasted more sensual? Scents of apricots and mangosteen offer exotic aromas that trigger an almost pheremonal response. Without a drop of Trebbiano di Soave in sight, this is made from 100% Garganega that have been dried in small boxes for five to six months, pressed in early March and then 60% is matured in barrel and 40% in stainless steel. 220 pounds yields only five gallons of juice by the end. The wine is extraordinary. The fruits of the nose are augmented by a faint nuttiness, coconut shavings and marzipan and combine with a lovely texture and a refreshing sweet and fragrant finish -what a send off! Thoughts of pound cake, blue cheese, and piping bacon roll around in my head as food pairings come naturally to this sweet wine that has not an iota of cloying sweetness! Sweet does not strictly mean dessert and this wine will challenge any skeptic.
