Selvapiana Villa Petrognano IGT 2009
At 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Merlot it should come as no surprise that this remarkable IGT will ascend into the DOC of Pomino Rosso once the vines are a bit older and wiser -but who'd guess these are young when the nose is full of ripe plum spice, cherry compote and aromatic hardwoods and the palate is polished, come hither and alive? This is a remarkable Super Tuscan under a screw cap and a must try for those like me who are tickled by the engaging admixture of Sangiovese and Bordelaise varieties -this is a tasty glass of wine!
