Selvapiana Chianti Rufina 2010

Chianti Rufina! Autumn leaves, black tea leaves, with floral top notes and an almost animal base note taut nervy cherry fragrance and cherry pit tannins that almost evoke a Nebbiolo knit. Its engaging acidity is a hallmark of Ruffina and this is the unique result of Ruffina’s schistose galestro soil which when combined with limestone and clay, provide the vine with moisture, warmth, and just the nutrients to gradually ripen these Sangiovese grapes gently and yet thoroughly so the structure is bright without any hard edges. This is a Ruffina among Ruffinas.

Food Pairings

Seriously anything tomatoey sings with Sangiovese, pizza and pasta to be sure. Sausages, chicken, gazpacho. Bread salad.
