Foreau Vouvray Moelleux Reserve 2005
Tangerine wafts up carrying with it all the telltale Chenin citrus and high toned honey aromas that register as full despite how fresh and lifted the acidity makes the structure. Even so the texture is calm and softens the palate like a lullaby to one yearning for rest. Moelleux [mwah-LEUH] is just the category of sweetness to either lure the skeptics from their cynical dry preferences or keep them happily despite a sweeter world beyond. Foreau, wherever you are: you have earned a devoted follower! Such wines may be priced out of reach for most us but if one seeks a moving experience from a delectable wine that spins yarns of place and time, the Moelleux Reserve is enough to whisk you off to the treasured plots along the Loire that it once called home; a land yielding wines few are fortunate enough to drink but all are grateful when they have the chance. This is Chenin Blanc nearing the divine. 11.5% alcohol by volume 750 ml
Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, December 2010
Honey and lemon with a touch of mushroom – something wild and garden fresh in the nose; palate shows honey and lemon but nothing cloying – quite fresh acid balance. Wow! –DYB
