Francois Cotat Chavignol Rose Sancerre 2018
Wow, what a superb wine! The fruit is all grapefruit, pummelo and lemon torte. BUT, it is a shame that tasting note etiquette dictates that fruit should be written before mineral. In the case of Cotat, this makes absolutely zero sense. The fruit is all secondary. What really makes this a stunner is all of that mineral –rock salt, sea spray, pulverized limestone and shell-fish (in fact oyster-shooter is appropriate.) It also tastes much like tears –and we should all be crying; crying because not all Sauvignon Blanc tastes like this. 13% alc. –BH
