Frog's Leap Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Joseph Drouhin 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru, Côte de Nuits | 13% | From this concentration of limestone in the Côte de Nuits Drouhin co-ferments Pinot Noir from the Premier Cru vineyards of Borniques, Combottes, Hauts Doix, Noirots, and Plantes. Densly planted vines averaging 32 years of age are managed biodynamically, plowed by horse and harvested at 20% lower yields than the appellation limits ensuring a lovely concentration of the terroir. Chambolle-Musigny is graceful –a feminine power among the masculine brawn of the Côte de Nuits. A wisp of Chinese five spice twists each spice in turn; anise, clove, cinnamon, fennel, and pepper each lift above the crunchy red currants and a vernal forest floor that hints at fresh mushrooms but keeps the freshly stretched ferns above all leaving us a wine of beguiling charm and a lasting impression.
Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, February 20, 2014 (Root)

"Fine lace and silk are the words most often associated with this wine. Bright, intense colour and complex aromas evoking violet, black cherry and damp earth. According to the vintages, there are also notes of truffle and game. Refined tannins coat the palate. Good balance between texture and acidity. Long aftertaste, with notes of cherry and candied fruit".
