Girardin Puligny-Montrachet Blanc Vieille Vignes 2019

Vincent Girardin 2013 Les Vieilles Vignes Puligny Montrachet | 13% | North of Chassagne just south of the Girardin stronghold in Meursault rests the gifted appellation of Puligny-Montrachet that spreads out north and east of the illustrious Grand Cru Le Montrachet to which it has hitched its name. Here on these pebbly limestone and clay marl slopes grow 65 year old vines of Chardonnay whose low yields are even further reduced by hand through cluster thinning to concentrate its charms all the further. Redolent of crisp orchard fruit, preserved lemon, citrus zest and licking ones lips after an afternoon in the sea, this white Burgundy charms in that saline seashell minerality and then finishes like apple blossoms and honeydew near the rind. Complex and round yet firm with a lasting fragrance, Puligny-Montrachet such as this is a terrific wine of exceptional value.
