Lorca Malbec/Syrah 2008
60% Malbec / 40% Syrah
At long last we’re finally seeing some ‘blends’ from Argentina. Thankfully this one falls under the interesting rather than cutesy category. Leading off with a rich, ripe, juicy, purple fruited nose. It’s nice to see the Syrah manages to add a good deal of complexity without overpowering the Malbec or even competing for attention. The palate gives plums and violets and a great tannin structure. This tastes as if it will improve nicely for a couple years at least.
