Sila Mencia 2011

This is the first Mencia I've ever taste low these many years and mountains of corks. That leaves me at a bit of a loss in acessing the wine as typicity is such a critical factor and here I have no template.
I'm told the grape is the same as Jaen du Dao of Portugal but that's no help either. That is was mistaken for Cabernet Franc is helpful. I know what that should tastes like.
The colour is vividly purple. The nose is of Cab Franc; stunningly blueberry. Oh, my! Nice wine. The flavours are fresh and lively, lighter than I expected but still compelling. Engaging fruit as in the Cab Franc from Saumur but fuller. Really good. Alcohol 13.5%. Notes by LAC. 9/21/2011.
