Romeo Rioja La Vina de Andres Romeo 2006

2006 Romeo La Vina de Andres Romeo Rioja

Thick and brooding with an inky purple/black color in the glass. On the nose you are drawn to the vanilla oak, pencil shavings and burnt earth intermixed with black and blue berry. Very tightly wound, but showcases lilac and violet with firm acidity and balanced tannins. This opulent and one of a kind Rioja needs more time to truly do it justice.

Expert Review

Vinos de Benjamin Romeo LA VINA DE ANDRES ROMEO 2006 - 100% Tempranillo
96 Points - "The 2006 La Vina de Andres Romeo is sourced from a single vineyard. Opaque purple colored, the wine's legs ooze slowly down the glass. Aromas of smoke, cedar, pencil lead, underbrush, and blackberry are enticing leading to a tightly wound, dense, powerful Rioja that will evolve for another 8-10 years."

93 Points - "Opaque purple. Blackberry, cassis and cherry aromas are complemented by anise, violet and bitter chocolate. Juicy, intensely flavored and quite fresh, with a less exotic character than the La Cueva bottling. Youthfully taut Rioja with a firm tannin/acid spine supporting its potent dark berry and mineral flavors. Finishes with good grip and a strong, dusty mineral quality that hangs on tenaciously. This needs time."
