Javillier Aloxe Corton 2009

I have been drinking Patrick Javillier's reds for five or six years and his whites for twice that long. This wine marks a departure; it is made by his daughter who has taken on the winemaking with the reds. Her wines are nowhere close to masculine yet far less feminine than her fathers. There is appreciatively deeper colour with a smoky, spicy nose. The mouth is fleshy; red fruit, gooseberry, cranberry sauced but also marvelously balanced. A remarkable if slightly less familiar wine from this fine estate. Note by LAC. 11/07/2011.
