Langmeil Hanging Snakes Shiraz Viognier 2012

Speaking a local dialect known as ‘Barossa-Deutsch’ , a blend of German and English that embodies much of t he history of the district, one of Langmeil’s best growers doesn't curse, just as his forebears didnt, but in the heat of vintage is oft heard to mutter “Hangin’ Snakes!”.

Hangin’ Snakes has all the hallmarks of a Langmeil Shiraz with a difference, as it has been co-fermented with a hatful of the white variety Viognier, to add complexity. Langmeil’s passion for Shiraz and diversity continues. We have handpicked specific vineyards from the Barossa Valley floor to highlight the youthful and vibrant aspects of the fruit. Our aim here is to reflect and maintain the essence, flavors, and structures which have made the Barossa the leading light for this pedigree variety.

Satsuma plum, mulberry and musk lolly aromas jump out of the glass with savory hints of rosemary, black olive and roasty adding to the complexity. Luscious black fruits flow onto the palate which is medium bodied yet well rounded and mouth filling. Firm but fine, velvety tannins add a lovely structure and texture to the wine with sweet and briary spice balancing the juicy fruit through to the finish.
