Mas Lauris ROSE Terres de MasLauris 2018
"That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Romeo and Juliet (II, ii, 1-2) What the bard had against rose has never been revealed yet the damage he did them, intended or otherwise and in his writing hardly anything was unintentional, lasts to this day. His etymology is undeniable but as to wine my refute is two-fold; first, there is nothing wrong with a wine being sweet as long as its balanced and, secondly, not all roses are sweet. I find roses to be about as pure expression of the varietal as there is; that’s fun and often pretty. One of the main objectives of our first buying trips of the calendar year is to select the roses we will be selling through the summer. These wines are fresh, charming and range from slightly sweet to completely dry. Really, if you’ve been avoiding roses give yourself a break.
Salads especially Nicoise or seafood. Ham, hamburgers. "Cheeseburger and chips."
