Marchesi di Gresy Nebbiolo Martinenga 2010

Largest single vineyard parcel devoted Nebbiolo owned by one family in all of Piedmont, this is a very historic piece of land –an 35 acre amphitheater that is covered in Nebbiolo vines. This is made from the fruit of the lower slopes, only on the skins for 5 to 6 days to prevent extracting too much tannin, and then (like the Dolcetto d’Alba) aged without oak. Do not merely dismiss this as entry level Nebbiolo –it can develop during a nice stint in the cellar. Juicy, fragrant, true Nebbiolo unencumbered by oak and left to sing its own solo of this gifted slope.

Marchesi di Gresy 2010 Martinenga Nebbiolo Langhe
Don't for a moment mistake for its fair complexion that this Nebbiolo will be coy, this has breadth and depth and tannins to spare with red fruits of the forest and sassafras top notes. This is the inimitable Martinenga after all!
