Marco Felluga Pinot Grigio Mongris 2014
Marco Felluga 2012 Mongris Pinot Grigio, Collio | Mongris a contraction of “mono variety” and the Friulano word for Pinot Grigio, Gris Clear and clean with no pooling, on the nose one finds pear, thyme, a wisp of light graham cracker, sweet hay scents, a hint of fresh cut spicy greens, a subtle sweet pea. It is bright and fresh but all acids are fully ripened and pull no punches. I am amazed by the invigorating acidity that is also fully ripened without any hard edge. It’s mineral to be sure but also a touch creamy texturally in a polished way. Riper more complex, orchard fruit, sweet green apples, sweet pea and mint –with a slight appetizing bitter phenolic on the finish. Evolved in stainless steel preserving all the minerality from the sandy loam of limestone and clay.
