Miner Stagecoach Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
Terrific Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is surprisingly hard to find. Why is this? It's hard to say ... maybe producers think it's easy to make Napa Cabernet (it's not). Maybe producers think they can stretch production to make more money (they can't). And increasingly we are tasting Cabernets from Napa that have an excessively green streak, with aromas of green pepper. Which brings us to this complete, fantastic, round, rich, and balanced Cabernet Sauvignon from Miner Family Vineyards. Composed of fruit from the incredible Stagecoach Vineyard (managed by Gabrielle Schaffer, former Wine Company employee and owner of Gamling and McDuck Winery), this is textbook and beautiful Napa Cabernet: black olive, ripe cassis, black raspberry, and sexy vanilla from just the right touch of oak. A spectacular finish that goes and goes shows the gentle touch of a great winemaker. Kudos to Dave Miner and his crew.
Wine review by Jason Kallsen, October 2013
This Cabernet Sauvignon reveals concentrated black cherry flavors flanked by firm, yet lush tannins. (winery note)
